Long Melford Under 11’s
4 v Oyster Youth 1 (Sun 07 March 2010)
Melford started with good pressure but were unable to
make the most of their early chances. Supporters were starting to worry when a
fabulous long pass from Callum Hemson found Tyler French who kept his cool to score
the first. The visitors then broke ,Melford defenders were left to chase and goalkeeper
Billy Miller had no chance with the equalizer. Second half battling visitors kept
Melford in their own half The defence
led by Jake Welch kept their cool and eventually the midfield of Hemson , Arlen
Crawley Smart and Adam Crawford began to control the game.Crawford went close
and then French grabbed number two. Handball from Oyster and from the penalty
French got number three. Oyster still threatened but great running back from
Tom Gibson helped out the defence. Josh Collins set up French for his fourth
and Melford stay top of the the league.
Long Melford Under 11’s
2 v Bergholt Heath 1 OPEN
CUP (Sun 14 February 2010)
Tough draw for Melford against a team high in the
league above. Bergholt pressured from
the start and brought a superb save from Billy Miller. Within minutes the
visitors were 1 up. Callum Hemson and Tyler
French set up Henry Day who’s shot was agonisingly wide. More fabulous saves
from Miller kept Melford in the game. Breakthrough when Jake Welch found Adam
Crawford who’s pinpoint pass set up French for the equaliser. Game On! Everyone
played their part. Great defensive performances by Cam Lambert and Joe Webb
with strong support from Welch and Harry Adams . Midfield was controlled by
Hemson with strong support from Crawford and Crawley Smart. Day and Collins
dangerous on the wings with French always a threat. The winner scored by a very
cool Collins after Crawley Smart provided the pass. Melford were unlucky not
to score more and in the end worthy winners.
LONG MELFORD under 11’s
6 v ROWHEDGE 0 (Sun 07 February 2010)
Great start when Callum Hemson and Tyler French linked
well and Henry Day was unlucky not to score. Continuing the pressure and French
got his first goal. Number 2 came after a long goal kick by Billy Miller found
Arlen Crawley – Smart who’s fine pass was put neatly away by French. Melford were really playing good football .
Hemson and French again combined to set up Tom Gibson to score number 3. A skilful lob by Adam Crawford found French who set up Jake Welch for goal
4. A superb solo effort by French was
number 5. Josh Collins delivered an
accurate corner and after a scramble Crawley –Smart touched in number 6. An dominant team performance by Melford with
great defensive support from Harry Adams , Harry Shaddock, Cam Lambert and Joe
Webb.
BROOKLANDS 4 V
LONG MELFORD under 11’s 5 (Sun 24 January 2010)
Melford got off to a good start with goals from Josh
Collins and Callum Hemson but then allowed Brooklands to get back in the game.
A home attack was halted by a good save from Billy Miller but he had no chance
with rebounded shot. Brooklands then equalized after a goalmouth scamble. A
penalty converted by the home team followed by another home goal mean’t Melford
were on the verge of losing their unbeaten record . . A goal pulled back after
great free kick by Hemson was touched in by French. Corner by French , square
ball by Day and Tom Gibson was quick to pounce. Constant pressure and Melford were rewarded with the winner after
Harry Adams set up French for his second. Nail biting for the supporters !
FRINTON AND WALTON
3 LONG MELFORD UNDER 11’S
3 (Sun 15 November 2009)
A fantastic game between two teams at the top of the
league. Melford took an early lead when Tyler French coolly slotted home. A superb pass by Adam Crawford set up Callum
Hemson but his shot went agonisingly wide. Frinton replied strongly, equalized
and then took the lead. Second half Frinton added number 3 when Melford gave away
a penalty . Goalie Manning always a rock in the goal had no chance . Credit to
Melford ,they battled back. Strong defending by Jake Welch, Cam Lambert ,Josh
Collins and Harry Shaddock kept Frinton at bay. Midfield dynamo Hemson controlled
play with support from Crawford ,Tom Gibson and Arlen Crawley-Smart. Breakaway by
French pulled a goal back. A nerve racking last 5 mins saw Melford battle hard
and Billy Miller scored a fantastic long range shot which clipped the crossbar
and dropped in. What a relief but what a match! Well done to both teams.
LONG MELFORD Under 11’s
1 v COGGLESHALL 0 (Sun 04 Oct)
A great start for the home team when a good pass from
Tom Gibson found Tyler French who showed his speed and provided the cross for
Callum Hemson to hit the ball home. From then on the game was very evenly matched
with both midfields battling hard to gain control. Jake Welch was commanding in
the defence and had good support from HarryAdams, Cameron Lambert and Joe Webb.
Hemson was close to getting his second but for a fantastic last ditch tackle by
Coggleshall defender. Josh Collins,
Adam Crawford and Billy Miller all worked hard to set up chances but the second
goal was elusive. Harry Shaddock and Henry Day came on in second half and added
their support but Melford were unable to add anymore goals. A tough game but
Melford happy with the points that keep them at the top of the league.
REED HALL SENTINALS
4 v LONG MELFORD under 11’s 5 (Sun 20 Sep)
A game of two halves. Melford came out where they left off last week and were soon one
up. From a corner Adam Crawford squared to Arlen Crawley-Smart who touched over
the line. Billy Miller’s parried shot was pounced on by Tom Gibson who set up
Tyler French for number 2. Crawley- Smart got his second with a long range
shot. Callum Hemson and Josh Collins combined to set up French for his
second. A fabulous free kick from Jake
Welch was saved by the keeper. Reed Hall had some good moves but Melfords Harry
Adams and Cameron Lambert kept them at bay. Second half Melford went to sleep.
Goalie George Manning was a lot busier and from a free kick Reed Hall got one
back and then No 2 .No 3 came from a penalty when Welch was judged to have
brought the defender down. After the
equaliser Melford battled and French broke away and coolly got his third to the
relief of team-mates and supporters.

11’s 5 (Sun 13 Sep)
A fantastic start to the new season with Melford
dominant for most of the game. An early chance for Tyler French went
agonisingly wide. Constant pressure saw Billy Miller grab the first goal. The
second half saw Melford increase the pressure and goals came . Adam Crawford
showed his speed on the right and provided the cross for Callum Hemson to get
the second. Determined play through the middle of Oysters defence from Arlen
Crawley Smart rewarded him with number 3. From a corner Josh Collins lobbed the
keeper to give him number 4 . Crawford finished a great team performance with
number 5. Oyster had the occasional chance but were always stopped in their
tracks by solid defending by Jake Welch and Harry Adams. A good all round
performance with Harry Shaddock, Cameron Lambert, Joe Webb,Tom Gibson and
George Manning all playing their part when needed.
