Reserves Update - 08/08/07
Ryan Owens reports on his side's 0-2 pre-season defeat against Sudbury Athletic on Wednesday 8 August

We decided to play the system that the first team are employing 4-3-3 as the formation and system I feel should be consistent among the senior teams.

We took however 45 minutes to get to grips with the new system and as a result conceded two goals to a very competitive Sudbury Athletic team. With a bit of further explanation of how the system should best be deployed the boys went out for the second half with a bit more confidence on what we were asking them to do.

We created several good opportunities again in the second half, two of note, a fine free kick from Jack Taylor then a fierce shot from the same player both saved acrobatically by the Subury keeper.

As I've said before pre-season is all about learning things about your team, them learning things about me and learning things about systems etc.

Myself and Mark are now coming together with what will be our strongest team for the Clacton match on the 25th and how we want to play. With everything I've seen so far I'm confident that the season will be a good one.

We are at home this Saturday against Willis F.C 3pm kick off, would be great to see some faces like Wednesday evening. the crowd was great and it was good for the boys to see so many people watching.
