Manager Ryan Owens reflects on his side's 1-1 draw against Grundisburgh
The score ended one each, but really that doesn't reflect on how well the team played on the day. Considering this was the first game of pre-season the lads played with confidence and gelled together really quickly. We have been working hard in training on possession of the football and you could see that the hard work put in over the summer had certainly paid off.
We created several chances in the first half that on another day would have gone in but the encouraging sign was the quality of the football that was being played. As is always the case in this game, if you don't take your chances when you're on top then you're always likely to concede one, which unfortunately happened half way through the first half.
The brilliant thing from my perspective was the positive energy from the lads at half time, so much so that they went out and dominated the second half and were rewarded when STEVE HADLEY scored the equaliser from close in after a Jack Taylor free kick was too hot for their keeper to hold.
Again a few missed chances in the second half meant that the lads were unlucky to come away with a draw. If we can maintain the confidence and quality of football in these games and into the season I'm sure will have an encouraging season to look forward to.
