Long Melford U10 Reds Manager: Adie Copsey
Long Melford U10s 1-1 Great Wratting
(Friendly, Sunday 23 August 2009)
In Melford under 10's first friendly against the Cambridge champions and in very hot conditions a very hard fought game took place. In the first half Wratting pressed forward strongly and were unlucky not to score on several occasions but for Michael Sharpe and Tate Liskus playing their first game together and along with the midfield helping out and Ben Copsey in goal the scores stayed even.
In the second half Liam Skipp forced a great reflex save out of the visiting keeper as did Matty Rampling. Wratting scored first from a corner, which somehow squirmed through legs and bodies to find its way into the net. Toby Russell came on and shored up the back line and along with Adam Cotter and Samuel Nixon Melford began to relax and play some attractive football, which resulted in Matty Rampling scoring a sublime equaliser from well out of the area.
The game continued to flow and in the dying minutes Wratting were awarded a penalty for a handball, and up stepped Ben Copsey who made a double save from the penalty and securing the draw for Melford. Both sides can be proud of the football played both defensively and attacking, they were a credit to both sets of supporters and themselves. Well done lads.
