Latest Report: Away v Colchester Villa, Won 2-1 (Sunday 18 Nov 2007)
Melford started the first half as they meant to go on with good attacking buildup play with Sam Smith Aaron Bean and George Manning there to back up in defence.Jake Welch was commanding in midfield with hard working support from Adam Crawford and Harry Adams. Melford had chances but the best came after Welch set up Henry Day who was only stopped by a fantastic save from the Villa goalkeeper. Villa came back and scored after Melford failed to clear. Melford came out second half determined and Jake Welch scored a fantastic long range volley from outside the box .Melford kept the pressure on and Henry Day got a well deserved winner to round off a great all round team performance.
Home v Brightlingsea Regent, Lost 1-2 (Sunday 07 Oct 2007)
Melford started with some good attacking play in the first half and Adam Crawford went close on a number of occasions. Melford could not seem to get their play together though and George Manning had to pull off some great saves.
Brightlingsea took the lead and then a few mintes later added another. After a strong team talk Melford came out in the second half and played much better as a team.
Good defending by Sam Smith and Aaron Bean set Melford up to run at Brightlingsea. Great runs down the wing by Harry Adams and good crosses by Henry Day kept the pressure on.
Jake Welch and Adam Crawford went close and the goal came when Sam Smith defended well and then took the ball up the middle passed to Harry Adams who scored a well deserved goal. Melford kept the pressure on but were unlucky not get a draw.
JANE CRAWFORD
Home v FC Clacton, Lost 1-4 (Sunday 23 Sep 2007)
Long Melford dominated most of the play in the first half with good back up defending from Aaron Bean and George Manning. Harry Adams and Adam Crawford combined well together in midfield but Melford were not able to turn their good play into goals. Clacton took an early lead in the second half but Jake Welch levelled the score with another great goal. Henry Day and Ben Copsey went close but then Clacton again took the lead. Melford battled hard but Clacton were awarded a penalty and then scored again soon after.
JANE CRAWFORD
Away v Lawford Juniors, Won 1-0 (Sunday 16 Sep 2007)
A battling performance by the whole team gave Melford a deserved first win of the season. A great goal by Jake Welch late on in the second half came when he followed in after Ben Copsey was unlucky to hit the post.
There was good build up play between Sam Smith, Aaron Bean and Henry Day was unlucky not to score. Adam Crawford and George Manning played very well in midfield, producing some timely tackles and both came close to their first goal
Once again a great performance in defence by Sam Smith producing good tackles to stop Lawford getting through. Good goal keeping by George Manning and Jake Welch in both halves kept Lawford at bay.
