Long Melford Football Club
Under 8's Reds
Away v Lawford Juniors, Won 9-0 (Sunday 11 November 2007)

The Reds again dominated from the off but it took time to open the scoring. With Tommy Kearin playing in goal in the first half and a couple of good chances going begging it took a while for Liam Skipp to open the scoring but with his pace it was going to come. Kyle Hurley and Charlie Hurrell continued to marshal the defence with Samuel Nixon and Jack Sandford making some good runs and pulling the defence apart the goals soon started to flow, with Jack winning the ball and passing to Liam who in turn passed across the area for Samuel to side foot in for his first of 2 well taken goals. Liam continued to push forward and with some great passing from Tate Liskus, Liam helped himself to a first half hat trick. In the second half Tommy came out of goal and added to his impressive goal tally this season with another 4 well-struck hard shots. Man of the match Jack Sandford played in goal in the second have and made a couple of saves. Joe Foster tried and unfortunately failed to find the net in the second half as the 'keeper some how managed to stop his shot in the line between himself and the post. With a few positional changes of Kyle pushing forward Melford continued to dominate and were very unlucky not to put the score into double figures. Well done lads another fine display and another 3 points.

Away v Holland FC, Lost 1-2 (Sunday 28 October 2007)

Again playing against the strong wind coming off the sea the Reds lost their first game of the season but they dominanted the game. Toby Russell had to pick the ball out of the net twice in the first half but was a complete by-stander in the second half as Melford dominanted. Man of the Match Tommy Kearin was hacked down time after time and even in the area without any reward, Charlie Hurrell continues to give an all action display, while Tate Liskus and Kyle Hurley continue to impress at the back.

Jack Sandford had chances as did Liam Skipp, but Samuel Nixon did get one back on the far post as he controlled and drilled the ball home after his dry spell. Melford continued pressing but never got enough bodies in the box to pressure the keeper. Well done lads, it was cold and windy and i haven't defrosted yet, what joy we had at the seaside! Final score Holland 2-1 Melford Reds.

Away v Great Bentley Reds, Won 4-0 (Sunday 30 September 2007)

The Reds faired slightly better than the Blues win another comfrotable victory with Tommy Kearin making only on save in the second half. Man of the Match Charlie Hurrell was tireless in midfield and found space and tackled hard. Tate Liskus and Kyle Hurley were again unflappable with both pushing forward with Tate making some excellent runs and tormenting the defense. Jack Sandford and Joe Foster were denied by some good goalkeeping but the deadlock was broken by Liam Skipp after a great solo run and shot. The goal machine of Samuel Nixon again added another brace of goals with Liam adding another in the second half. Toby Russell wanted to touch the ball so he came out of the goal and showed some good touches playing in the midfield. Melford Reds were totally dominant and with a little more composure and passing the score again could have been so much more.

Away v Brightlingsea Regents Reds, Won 9-0 (Sunday 23 September 2007)

This game was totally dominanted by Melford with Toby Russell in goal not having to make a save and only touched the ball for a goalkick. Man of the Match Samuel Nixon cash in with 5 goals to take his tally to 7 in 2 games, and Tommy Kearin weighed in with 3 in the second half along with little Joe Foster scoring his first of the season ( god was his dad pleased! ). Tate Liskus ran the midfield in the first half along with Charlie Hurrell who was impressive along with the defensive rocks of Kyle Hurley and Tommy. At 4 nil at half time which could have so easily have been more Liam Skipp came on a terrorised the defense with his pace and direct play, but he couldn't find the net although his corners and passing enabled Tommy and Joe to score. Melford continued to press and every player was camped on the edge of the area with Jack Sandford going close.

Home v Wivenhoe Youth Reds, Won 5-0 (Sunday 16 September 2007)

Again in their first match the reds dominanted from the off with Samuel Nixon opening the scoring and helping himself to another with good control and a good shot. Great defending from little Kyle Hurley made Toby Russell in goal a virtual spectator for the entire game. Tommy Kearin squashed everything in midfield and was unlucky with many chances. Man of the match Liam Skipp was a constant threat and was rewarded with a goal. Tate Liskus ran well with the ball and scored a great couple of goals and helped Kyle at the back when needed. In the second half Jack Sandford and Joe Foster had some great efforts but were unlucky. It was a great performance, final score Long Melford Reds 5-0 Wivenhoe Youth Reds.
