LONG MELFORD V FAKENHAM TOWN: MATCH PREVIEW (March 07, 2010)
melford   V   fakenhamtown
Ridgeons League Division One, Monday 08 March 2010, 8.00pm

A win against Fakenham Town would see Melford hit the 20-point mark and move two places up the table. It will be a tough match as Fakenham’s record of 5 points from 21 matches is misleading. Since the appointment of player/manager Wayne Anderson and his assistant Neil Jarvis the Ghosts have become harder to beat and in recent weeks they have picked up useful away points at Saffron Walden Town (2-2) and Stowmarket Town (0-0). On Saturday they only lost by one goal to the in-form Brantham Athletic.

Fakenham have benefited from an influx of players from King’s Lynn and manager Wayne Anderson has recently brought in striker Danny Foulsham, who played under Anderson at Downham Town. Foulsham scored 8 goals in 20 appearances for Downham this season, including a long-range strike at Stoneylands in the 2-2 draw in August.

After the home 2-2 draw with Fakenham last week, Saffron Walden Town assistant manager John Butchart admitted that his side had “expected the game to be easier than it was and we were caught napping, if we had known they had boosted their squad with new players I’m sure our preparation would have been better.”

Melford manager Geoff Cleal has named a 16-man squad on the Notices section of the website.
