FULL REPORT OF YESTERDAY'S SENIOR AWARDS AT PRESENTATION DAY (May 11, 2008)
Yesterday's Presentation Day at Stoneylands was a great success with a large turn out and hot, sunny weather throughout. It's always fantastic to see the whole club come together as one, from the U8s to the 1st Team.
The Colts section will hopefully provide a full report of all their presentations and award winners shortly, in the meantime here is a round-up of the main club's awards:
The main club's awards took place at 7.30pm in the marquee and with U18 manager Trevor Warren unable to attend, coach Neil Bagshaw and assistant manager Andy Adams presented the awards. Neil spoke very highly of the squad and their achievements this season in finishing as runners-up in the Ridgeons Youth League South Division, but also a touch of regret as they came so close to clinching the title.
The U18s had the best away record in the division and lost the same amount of matches as champions Harwich, so Neil summed things up well when he spoke of how frustrating it was not to go one step further and win the title. Neverthless, the U18s had a superb season and it was good to see that all the squad were presented with runners-up medals by Neil and Andy.
STEVE ADAMS : U18 MANAGER'S PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Then it was time for the awards to be announced and the Manager's Player of the Year went to inspirational captain Steve Adams (pictured above with his trophy). Steve later thanked Trevor, Neil and Andy on behalf of all the squad for their coaching and hard work over the season.
ANTHONY FERNANDEZ : U18 PLAYERS' PLAYER OF THE YEAR
U18 Players' Player of the Year went to the exciting prospect Anthony Fernandez (above), who made the step up from the U16 Alliance this year a highly successful one. Then the talented Karl Delves (below) was presented with the Coach's Player of the Year award by Neil.

It was then time for Reserves' boss Ryan Owens to take to the stage and he thanked the club and all his players for their efforts this season, especially player/assistant manager Mark Dack. Ryan picked out the 4-2 win at Tiptree United as the highlight of a good overall season, before handing over the Manager's Player of the Year award to his outstanding goalkeeper Sam Mansfield (below).

Mark Dack (below) was then given the Players' Player of the Year award after another excellent season at the heart of the Melford defence.

Paul Grainger then presented the 1st Team awards, after thanking everyone at the club particularly the players who he said he was proud to have managed. Paul gave the manager's award to 'Mr Long Melford' Liam Cawtheray (pictured below with his trophy), not only for his superb performances but for his 100% commitment to the club on and off the pitch.
LIAM CAWTHERAY : 1ST TEAM MANAGER'S PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Floyd Croll (pictured below with his awards) deservedly won the Players' Player of the Year and Supporters' Player of the Year after a sensational season. The 20-year-old goalkeeper made 34 appearances for Melford and consistently put in outstanding performances.

Ashley Skeggs won the 1st Team Golden Boot award. The 18-year-old Melford captain has been an excellent signing for the club since joining from AFC Sudbury in the Summer and a definite success story this season.
ASHLEY SKEGGS : 1ST TEAM TOP GOALSCORER
Finally, Chairman Alf Woodhouse thanked the club's hard-working group of officials including Vice-Chairman Simon Garden, Secretary Richard Powell, groundsmen Malcolm and Daniel Atkin and everyone else who works hard for the club off the pitch. He thanked the players for their commitment and effort over the season and highlighted the unique team spirit we have at Melford.
Everybody at Long Melford Football Club would like to congratulate and thank Colts Chairman Dave King and his Committee for successfully organising yesterday's Presentation Day. A lot of hard work went into making yesterday such a fantastic day and it is much appreciated by everyone at the club.
