DAN MANSER INJURY OVERSHADOWS 1ST TEAM'S DRAW AT THETFORD (April 26, 2008)
Danny Manser

Melford striker Dan Manser sustained suspected ligament damage during the 1st Team's 2-2 draw at Thetford Town today. The 22-year-old striker was injured in the first half and despite bravely playing on whilst clearly in some pain he eventually had to be substituted and taken to hospital.

His manager Paul Grainger said after the match: "Danny has been to hospital and is believed to have ligament damage, although the seriousness won't be known until he sees a specialist Monday week."

The match itself was a fairly even contest, with Melford leading 1-0 at the break thanks to a spectacular long range strike from Jack Taylor, his first goal for the 1st Team. Thetford bossed the beginning of the second half and levelled the scores. Melford took the lead late on through Steve Chisholm but a stoppage time equaliser gave Thetford a share of the spoils.

The point means that Cornard United have to win at Godmanchester Rovers on Tuesday night to stand any chance of catching Melford in the race to avoid being left with the wooden spoon.
