1ST TEAM LOSE AT HOME TO DISS TOWN AFTER SENDING OFF CHANGES COURSE OF MATCH (December 16, 2007)
The 1st Team lost their seventh league match in a row yesterday when Diss Town ran out comfortable 4-1 winners at Stoneylands in front of a crowd of 70.

For large parts the gap between the two sides was very small but the game changed on two incidents. Firstly, after an even opening Melford's Steve Day had a goal ruled out for offside on 35 minutes. Day was clearly offside, but the ball appeared to reach him courtesy of a touch from a Diss defender.

Diss then immediately broke down the other end and opened the scoring. A few minutes later Mark Alder was very harshly given a straight red for dissent, and Diss scored three times in a deadly five minute spell before the break that effectively killed the game off.

Melford were the better side in the second half despite the visitors' extra man, and deservedly pulled one back early on in the half when Liam Cawtheray converted a Paul Walker cross with a neat finish.

Melford: Croll, Simpson, Cawtheray, Skeggs, Alder, Adams, Wilson, Walker, French, Grindrod, Day
