1ST TEAM BOW OUT OF RIDGEONS LEAGUE CUP WITH DEFEAT AT IPSWICH WANDERERS (October 30, 2007)
The 1st Team lost 3-1 at Premier Division side Ipswich Wanderers tonight in the Ridgeons League Cup 1st Round, in front of a crowd of 87.

Melford took the lead in the 28th minute thanks to a well-taken goal from Tony French, but the home side struck three times before half time to go in 3-1 up at the interval - goals from Ronnie Wright, an own goal and Lewis Driver.

Paul Grainger was encouraged by last night's display, adding that Melford created plenty of chances and matched Ipswich throughout but ultimately paid the price for switching off at key times.

Melford: Floyd Croll, Neil Hayward, Liam Cawtheray, Danny Brind, Errol Durell, Mark Alder, Matt Wilson, Paul Walker, Carl Daw, Tony French, Ashley Skeggs
