MARK ALDER EQUALISER EARNS US FIRST POINT OF THE SEASON (September 01, 2007)
1STTEAM6

After being forced on the defensive for most of the first half, Melford sparked second half and showed some spirit and courage to end up sharing the pioints with March Town.

Most of the early chances fell to the  visitors with Lawrie Brand sending an effort along the Melford goal line and a shot  from Karoma was headed off the line by Adams.

However against this background of pressure Melford took the lead,a throw from near the left corner flag found KENYON  loose in the box and he prodded home.

This increased the pressure on Melford and some great keeping from Rulton kept the lead intact when he dived to save at the feet of Ashley Brand when the striker was through on goal .

But the striker was not to be denied on 22 minutes when he got goal side of his marker and lobbed keeper Rulton who had advanced from his goal.

In a rare Melford attack Brind fired over the bar, whilst at the other end chances were not taken,by Pepper who  put the ball over the bar from two yards and again Rulton took the ball off the toe of Ashley Brand.

Just three minutes into the second half March took the lead,LAWRIE BRAND was allowed to run forty yards without defensive challenge and cut in to fire right footed into the net, that seems to be a repeat performace on previous weeks for Melford.

Looking much sharper and showing more determination Melford came back at the visitors, Kenyon just failed with a shot from a French pass and then from a great ball from Simpson,   French put another effort inches wide.

Finally on 66 minutes Melford levelled when a corner from Skeggs found ALDER who hammered the ball into the net.  Both teams looked for the winner with Pepper gain missing an easy chance for March and on the final minute a header from the impressive Chisholm was parried one handed by keeper Brookes.
